The Story of Cholera: A Video for Global Handwashing Day
As part of our activities for Global Handwashing Day, celebrated on October 15 each year, the Ghana WASH Project showed a series of films including The Story of Cholera. The short animated film is produced by the Global Health Media Project in collaboration with Yoni Goodman.
The film makes visible the invisible cholera germs as a young boy shows how to help the sick and guides his village in preventing the spread of cholera. In the film, learn how to make a basic homemade oral re-hydration solution (ORS) using sugar, salt , and safe water as these items were felt to be most widely available. However, a solution prepared with a ready made ORS packet is the first choice if supplies are available.
For Global Handwashing Day, the Ghana WASH Project lead community awareness building activities around Central, Eastern, Volta and Western regions. Learn more about our activities here.
